The Westshore Inn is a family owned and operated property just 50 metres from Westshore Beach, a short 5-minute drive to the downtown Art Deco district, Napier and 1km from the West Quay restaurant area. Access to link roads for all the wineries is just 150 metres down the road.
Adjacent to the Ahuriri Estuary Wildlife Reserve & Walkways which provides for kayaking, sailing and wonderful walks. We are the closest accommodation to the airport and do not hear a thing!!!
We have a combination of lodgings available: 2-bedroom chalets, studios and hotel rooms. The chalets and studios are exceptionally quiet and private stand-alone buildings. Rooms can have king-size beds or be split to king singles.
Great reasons to stay are:
- Our studios and chalets are stand-alone and the most private accommodation of their type.
- There is absolutely NO road noise as you find in most accommodation.
- Parking is right next door to the chalets and studios.
- The 2-bedroom chalets are well suited to families.
- The hotel rooms and operations all use solar-powered hot water.
We have a small bistro that wherever possible uses fresh local produce. Chef Marty Clarkson, fresh from 5 years in Sydney, ensures things are always interesting.
We have a friendly sports bar with 3 giant screens, many 50in plasma screens and 5 Live game sources (Sky).
History of The Westshore:
he Westshore Hotel has been a feature of Westshore Beach community life for approximately 180 years. It started out as McKains Villers Accommodation House off the Spit, where James McKain applied for a bush licence to enable him to sell liquor at the House. The current Westshore Hotel can be traced back to this House, the licence application for which appeared in the New Munster Gazette on 22 August 1851.
In its time, the hotel has been named Ahuriri, The Ferry, Ferryman's, and latterly The Westshore. The reason for its current location can be traced back to a fire in the then-named Ferry Hotel at The Spit bridge.
The owners of The Ferry Hotel had to endure a lengthy court battle to keep the licence and to have the Hotel rebuilt. Eventually, around 1925, the new hotel was built at the junction of Meeanee Quay and Embankment Road and named The Westshore Hotel.
